One-day meetings with specific themes are being held on a regular basis. These are the meetings held so far.

First meeting (26-03-2013): Presentation of ESEP one and a half year after its launch;

Second meeting (07-11-2013): Astrochemistry;

Third meeting (27-05-2014): The Earth's Space Environment;

Fourth meeting (10-12-2014): Nano Satellites;

Fifth meeting (28-01-2016): Space Instrumentation for Planetary Exploration;

Sixth meeting (29-11-2016): Exoplanets;

Seventh meeting (23-11-2017): Databases and Virtual Observatories.

Exoplanet Research

We now know that every star in the Galaxy hosts planets. This places out own Solar System in a very different light. The research in this field is cutting edge and advancing at a high pace. Soon we will be able to decipher the physical characteristics of Earth like exo-planets that orbit the habitable zone of their host star.

Sun Earth Connection

The Sun emits electromagnetic radiation as well as particles in the form of the Solar Wind. The Solar Wind is highly variable over time. Large surges of particles can disrupt satellite orbiting the Earth and thus the predication of the solar “weather” is an area of great practical significance.
Even though the Sun has been observed for many decades, there are still unanswered questions about parts of the solar electromagnetic spectrum. For example, the long-term behaviour of the UV radiation is still not well known, because it can only be measured from Space, where satellites have a limited life time.

Planetary Science

Planetary Science is the field of study of everything related to the physical properties of the planets and their environments. It is a highly interdisciplinary field of research. At ESEP the focus is on the questions of the origin of the Solar System, prebiotic life and the origin of life, climate system evolutions and habitability and comparative planetology.
